These exciting evening workshops offer a rich opportunity to continue developing your creativity, experimentation, and personal expression through a series of focused, playful, and boundary-pushing drawing and mixed-media sessions that also link into The River Severn Project. Each session invites you to engage deeply with the exploration and depiction of light and its absence as darkness.
You learn how we experience light and how tone and colour are determined by ambient and artificial light in the landscape, indoors and on animals and figures. Stealing the ideas of artists who have grappled (and mainly won) with this vital energy from you will help you realise your own potential to use and manipulate light in your work.
Draw Only What You Can’t Name Using charcoal on toned paper and white chalk
Assign weight to shadows cast by figures and objects using watery media and charcoal dust
Using inhale light marks, exhale dark build full drawing through cycles and flows of breath and energy to build textured and multi-layered drawings
Draw into distortions and focus on reflections using pastels and crayons plus cutting images and collage
One continuous line will show movement - using your non-dominant hand and mixed media plus mark making tools you will explore depth and flow in drawings and paintings.
Create work and then remove and destroy parts keeping what resists disappearance to make highly textured surfaces – including printmaking and wax medium
We shall explore the depth of air and moisture rich spaces. Using multi-layers of materials and vision to show the thickness and moisture of the air and atmosphere.
