Part 1 – Spring flowers
In the art world, the concept of spring is rife with symbolism and diverse connotations: spring art speaks of renewal, rebirth, purity, fertility, youth, beauty, love, and, in some instances, frivolity. And so can flowers! In these workshops you will learn about the hidden meaning in flowers used by artists and create your own symbolic, yet life filled artworks.

Part 2 – spring landscapes
The jewel like quality of spring light is reflected off the new sharp buds and leaves which is shown most brilliantly by artists Klimt, Bonnard, and Van Gogh. We shall be utilising their brushstroke techniques and colour palettes to create our own sparkling paintings full of spring life.

Part 3 – Large scale mixed media!
Working on a larger scale means that you can experiment with energetic and gestural brushstrokes, mixed media, texture and much more. You can choose a spring subject – landscape, flowers, people, anything that has the vibrancy of spring – as the subject of your work. You will need to have a large canvas (a second hand one will do!) or card or paper.

Now its your turn to choose the materials, size, and approach to create an image of a washing line with clothes billowing in the spring breeze – or you can choose how you would like to interpret this – even in 3D?!
