The arrangement of tone guides the viewer’s eye around an artwork and creates drama, focus, depth, and balance. Understanding tone will also enable you to make bold and confident decisions when using colour.
In this first workshop we shall use colour mixing of a limited palette to build light and form. High contrast (strong lights and darks) creates drama and emphasis, and low contrast can convey softness or distance.

Mixing line, tone and colour together can be tricky so we shall use mixed media to explore how adding tonal colour to line and prints will provide depth and interest in your art.
